I have worked for both Circuit City when they were in business as a retail operation AND for Best Buy.

In 2004, Best Buy launched Geek Squad in all their stores.

In 2007, Circuit City launched firedog in all their stores.

So how sir, did Best Buy follow suit?

The firedog program was a direct rip off of the Geek Squad, so much so that most district level firedog managers were hired AWAY from Best Buy, because they knew how to run that side of the business.

VCU marketing professor Van Wood should know a little of what he is talking about before he makes a comment. Geek Squad was it's own business before Best Buy bought them and began installing them into Best Buys throughout the country. They were in all Best Buys at least a year before Circuit City unleashed Firedog. So in this instance Geek Squad came first and Firedog came second.
