Both Keith and Jason have said it perfectly.

I've never been a trainer but I have dropped plenty of money on 'Globo Gym' memberships in my lifetime. Looking back at that I can see that my contract basically didn't get me anything more than a key to the front door, so to speak. Once inside the gym I was left up to my own devices for every workout, every day, unless I wanted to spend more money for personal training time.

I've been working out with Coach Jason for about 9 months now and from day One I knew that CrossFit was something completely different. The time spent by Jason imparting 90% of his knowledge basically one-on-one doesn't even compare to the time spent by trainers at an traditional gym for the average client. Sometimes I'm the only client Jason has for a session and for the whole hour I get the best hands-on and reinforced instruction I've come across. Other times even when the gym is 'packed' it is still 4-to-1 clients to coach. Every Day. That just doesn't happen outside of CrossFit gyms.

For the outsider looking in, the prices at a CrossFit gym do look high but once you step inside Full Circle and realize that you've found something special AND you're making a positive lifestyle change you'll start to feel that you're not paying the Coaches enough.

I'm sure Keith's clients feel the say way I do about Jason and just want to say, "Thank you!"

Well said Keith.

Having spent quite a lot of time in the trenches at your typical 'Globo Gym' I concur entirely. Though many of my personal training clients at various traditional gyms were happy to pay in excess of $100 per hour for my services, most could not afford it for very long. Hence, I would train with someone for a few months tops, at a cost of $2-8,000 to them, until this was no longer sustainable. Now I impart 90% of that knowledge to every one of our group class trainees, as tiny fraction of the cost. They train more often, and for a lot longer. And they get results.

In reality, you can have an intervention or you can make a lifestyle change. An intervention will help you lose 10lbs before your wedding. A lifestyle change will positively impact your health, your self image and your relationships with others. Crossfit is a lifestyle change of the utmost beneficence.

Hi Aaron,
Thanks so much for the write-up. Nice publication- looks like you're on to a good thing.

I just wanted to comment on the price angle. We do charge more than traditional gyms, but any Crossfitter will tell you it's well worth it.

Most gyms (and I've worked in many) oversell memberships and lock clients into a contract, knowing full well that most people will rarely attend while continuing to pay. You may get a tour and and an introduction to their equipment, but other than that, patrons are on their own. At any of them you will see people wandering around with no idea what to do.

At Crossfit Swift, clients get group personal training, lots of individual attention, and constant hands-on coaching. To get this kind of attention at the "globo" gyms, a client will have to pay much more than the advertised fee. Hence, we feel we are competively priced. Also, we offer a punch card system, so if you're not that there, you don't pay.

We also do many things that that would get you thrown out of the traditional gyms. Our workouts are challenging, fun, and offer a complete escape from the demands of daily life. I can promise that a client will be fully engaged in the workout and will never be standing or sitting on a piece of equipment, while staring at a TV or making a shopping list.

Most importantly, however, we get results, whether you an elite athlete or just a busy person trying to get results.

Thanks again, Aaron.
