IFRS is here! Are you prepared? VCU Center for Corporate Education, in conjunction with GAAP Seminars, presents The “Bridging the GAAP to IFRS” Seminar. This two-day workshop held September 15-16, 2009 (8am–5pm), is for executives, analysts, accountants and others responsible for financial reporting/analysis that understand U.S. GAAP, but need to know about IFRS to function in the ever-changing global marketplace.
Asia is turning to IFRS – China, India, Japan and Korea are all on their way; Canada and Mexico are going to IFRS by 2011. The SEC has already removed the reconciliation requirement for foreign registrants using International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and its “roadmap” proposes its mandatory use by U.S. companies. With more than 100 countries requiring or permitting the use of or converging with IFRS, this “other GAAP” cannot be ignored.

• According to the SEC’s proposed “roadmap”, accelerated filers in the U.S. would be required to convert to IFRS by 2014.
• The SEC has proposed requiring three years of audited IFRS information upon first-time adoption.
