Starting in a week or two, we will begin running another weekly feature that compiles helpful data for Richmonders.
We already offer a weekly commercial real estate roundup, compile business licenses and run a Q&A with a business owner or honcho.
We’ve tentatively named our foray into HR reporting “The Herd.” It will be a rundown of people who’ve changed jobs or gotten promotions (and perhaps demotions, if we’re alerted to them).
Seeing the firestorm of angry comments about the new names for an AA baseball team (Flatheads, really?) we are also open to suggestions for the name of the section.
We would like to run a small photo with each one, so please send news about hires or promotions to theherd@richmondbizsense.com.
Some of you may also have been contacted by us as part of our study/focus group on a new premium content concept.
Like most media these days, we’re looking for possible complements to ad revenue (which is expanding rapidly, but still).
The reason: We want to hire another full-time reporter but need more revenue before we can pay for that position. Hiring another reporter would allow us to dig deeper into the local business scene, and also to fix some of the irritating typos that we know drive our readers crazy.
So we’re considering a premium package for subscribers, which would give them access to expanded stories and data. The cost would be about the same as a Starbucks per month. If we can sell 2,000 subscriptions per year, we’re golden.
In the meantime, we will keep expanding within our means.
Aaron Kremer is the BizSense Editor. Please send tips for new sections or ideas about premium content to Editor@richmondbizsense.com.
