As for insurance companies getting their "cut" of the profits, I guess you could say the same about doctors, hospitals, drug companies and everyone else involved in the delivery of goods and services in a capitalist society. That's what makes the system go. I do think that insurance companies have too much influence in the system; doctors and patients should have more say.
