Zipcar parks in C’ville
November 11, 2009 by Al Harris
Here at BizSense we have already run one story about how Zipcar, a Boston-based car sharing service, has bypassed Richmond as it sets up locations around the country.
But they are getting closer.
Zipcar announced they are launching in Charlottesville on the University of Virginia campus.
From an article in today’s Daily Progress:
The UVa effort will feature six self-service Zipcars, including Honda Insights and Civics, which are available around the clock to UVa faculty, staff and students aged 18 and older. Those eligible can join Zipcar for a $35 annual fee and drive the cars for $8 per hour or $66 per day on weekdays (different rates for weekends). The rates include gas, roadside assistance and limited miles.
Charlottesville residents over 21 years of age will also be able to join for a $75 fee.
