BizSense mobile

November 23, 2009 by Aaron Kremer

iphoneIt’s hard keeping up with the iJoneses.

We’ve decided not to spend energy working on an App for the iPhone, and instead upgraded our site to make it easier to browse on smart phones. I’m not sure exactly what an RBS App would do, anyway. (Let readers drop us news tips, perhaps?)

We had our web programmers improve our mobile version. That means you can browse the site, and see headlines and read stories with greater ease. Mobile sites generally simplify a website so it loads faster. Before the upgrade, the site was basically the exact same for mobile devices. That was slowing down browsing.

Please let us know if BizSense is working well on your Blackberry, or iPhone, or whatever else you may use. We know that the email doesn’t pull up that well on Blackberry’s – it’s been our Achilles heel.

And look for some major changes in 2010.

Nice job! I am a Blackberry Storm user, and this displays nicely on my screen. It is also quick to load as well.

Those of us with the largest displays might also appreciate thumbnail images with each story.

Also, let’s not forget the RBS logo. I wasn’t sure I had landed on the right page – Branding, branding, branding!

    Keep up the good work.

    Good choice.

Looks very nice on my Droid. Very usable.

The site isn’t detecting my old Windows Mobile 5 phone though (xv6700/PIE Browser). The regular site loads (poorly). It’s usable when reformatted for mobile viewing by Google though.

WPtouch is a great add for site builders. I only wish they would move their ‘mobile them on/off’ button to the top of the iphone page so users who prefer a traditional mobile look (good for certain pages) would notice the feature when on.

Keep up the great posts, videos, and links. RichmondBizSense.com is a fantastic resource for all things business in Richmond – and a well built formatted site.

I wonder what’s next? User video comments using Seeimic (sp?) or BubbleComment.com integration perhaps?

I have a iPhone and had the mobile version now it’s gone? How do I get it back?
