Robious Sports and Fitness changes its name

December 21, 2009 by Aaron Kremer

Goodbye, Robious Sports and Fitness. Hello, Midlothian Athletic Club.

Robious Sports and Fitness, which was bought in September by the Richmond-based private equity group Boxwood Capital Partners, will be getting a new name to accompany a million-dollar upgrade.

The Midlothian Athletic Club has an upgraded website, too.

CJW Medical Center previously owned Robious Sports and Fitness.

“We’re trying to shake it up,” said Patrick Galleher, a managing partner with Boxwoods. “We played around with a lot of different names. It’s right off of Midlothian Turnpike. Everyone [we talked to] seemed to like that name versus all the other ones we looked at.”

Galleher said his group considered “Chesterfield Athletic Club” but decided against it.

“CAC doesn’t sound as good as MAC,” Boxwood said.
