Local Borders is gone for good

Michael Schwartz April 22, 2011 0

The Borders Books & Music store on West Broad Street is officially out of business.

Borders filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in mid-February and announced then that the Broad Street location was one of 200 stores to be shuttered.

It was the chain’s only Richmond location and was one of several in the state to get the ax. The local store had a massive going-out-of-business sale until it was closed down for good.

At least one closing-related question remains: Who will the next tenant be? The space is 25,000 square feet and sits on three acres.

The property is listed for lease with CB Richard Ellis. Robert Black and Robby Brownfield are handling the listing for CBRE.
