Richmond’s newest “Companies to Watch”

The Richmond Venture Forum honored 13 local businesses at its annual RVA Companies to Watch event on Wednesday.

A crowd of about 200 gathered at the Hippodrome Theater to celebrate this year’s honorees. The Venture Forum divided the businesses into two categories – emerging companies and growth companies. Both categories honored local firms poised to expand and make a big impact on the area.

Here are this year’s winners:

Emerging Companies

 Ledbury, a high-end shirt maker

CarLotz, a local consignment car dealership

Mobelux Labs, a mobile and web-based app developer

PlanG, an online company that streamlines charitable donations

INM United, a technology development and design company

LucyPhone, which eliminates the hold time on customer service lines

DriveFactor, a plug-in device that monitors your driving habits

Growth Companies

Momentum Resources, a local recruiting company

Elephant Insurance, an auto insurance provider

Health Diagnostic Laboratories, a clinical laboratory that offers in-depth testing

Shockoe Commerce Group, an e-commerce group that owns several yoga, snack, coffee and office supply websites

National Counseling Group, a private group of therapists and counselors that serve the state

Intelliject, a pharmaceutical company

    It should also be noted that Marti Beller and the Plan G team took home the “Bright Future” award. Way to go Plan G!
