Combination treatment of tobacco extract using antioxidants and antioxidant scavengers
Patent 8,651,115
A process for treating a tobacco material comprising: (a) extracting a tobacco material with a solvent to produce a tobacco extract and a tobacco residue; (b) contacting the tobacco extract with an antioxidant; and (c) contacting the mixture of (b) with an antioxidant scavenger, to produce a treated tobacco extract. The treated tobacco extract is reapplied to the tobacco residue to form a treated tobacco material. In addition, a smoking composition, a smoking article and a smokeless tobacco oral delivery product contain the treated tobacco material.

Gravure-printed, banded cigarette paper
Patent 8,646,463
A cigarette and cigarette paper have a plurality of multilayer bands formed by printing a highly viscous aqueous film-forming composition. After heating the composition to lower its viscosity, the bands are applied to the cigarette paper by gravure printing the composition. The composition is quenched and gelatinized by contact with the cool cigarette paper reducing absorption of water by the paper and reducing wrinkling, cockling, and waviness. Multiple gravure printed layers may be used to form the bands.

Process for forming unidirectionally oriented fiber structures
Patent 8,652,570
A process for forming a unidirectionally oriented fiber structure formed of high tenacity fibers. A plurality of yarns of high tenacity fibers are supplied, with the yarns being unidirectionally oriented. The yarns are coated with a liquid having a viscosity of about 5 to about 600 centipoises and tension is applied to the yarns. The yarns are passed through a fiber spreading device and the yarns are dried. The yarns are reduced in thickness and increased in width after passing through the fiber spreading device, with the fibers forming the yarns being spread apart, thus providing a relatively thin unidirectionally oriented fiber structure.
Inventors: Brian D. Arvidson (Chester); Ashok Bhatnagar (Richmond); Henry G. Ardiff (Chesterfield); Ralf Klein (Midlothian); Lori L. Wagner (Richmond)
Assignee: Honeywell International Inc. (Morristown, N.J.)

Weakly oxidizing ammonium nitrate composite materials and methods for preparing such compositions
Patent 8,652,277
A method forms a relatively stable ammonium nitrate composite material. The method includes (a) blending ammonium nitrate with an average particle diameter greater than about 1 mm and a substantially non-oxidizing compound in fine particle form; and (b) reducing the average size of said ammonium nitrate granules in the presence of the non-oxidizing compound in fine particle form to produce a substantially homogeneous blend of ammonium nitrate and the non-oxidizing compound having an average particle diameter of about 1 to about 1,000 .mu.m to form a substantially non-explosive powder.
Inventors: Alan B. Levy (Randolph, N.J.); James A. Kweeder (Chesterfield); Jose Carrazza (Millburn, N.J.); Kenneth D. Kunz (Midlothian)
Assignee: Honeywell International Inc. (Morristown, N.J.)

Method and apparatus for prilling with pressure control
Patent 8,652,367
Methods and apparatus for prilling are provided which include dynamically controlling the pressure at the prill head for increased control over prill quality and size distribution. In one embodiment, the pressure of a headspace above a volume of liquid or slurry is regulated to maintain a more precise control of the pressure of the liquid or slurry at the prill head. In another embodiment, an axial upflow device is used to maintain a more precise control of the pressure of the liquid or slurry at the prill head.

Providing notification of spam avatars
Patent 8,656,476
The system monitors activities, movements, and other behavior patterns necessary to determine whether an avatar is a spam advertisement. A storing mechanism stores a “black list” and a black list score consisting of a list of spam avatar identifications (UUIDs) matching avatars that have been flagged as confirmed or suspected spam advertisers. Another mechanism allows the owner to redraw or otherwise re-render a distinguishing mark or other audible signature when an avatar has been detected as being a spam advertiser. Yet another mechanism signals to the owner an offending avatar that they have been added to the black list or had a report filed against them, and a reason as to why (the methods used to identify them). Another mechanism allows for a black listed avatar to be removed from the black list, and scores to be decreased and for the virtual universe and users to utilize the black list and score.
Inventors: Christopher J. Dawson (Bethesda, Md.); Rick A. Hamilton, II (Richmond); Brian M. O’Connell (Research Triangle Park, N.C.); Clifford A. Pickover (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.); Keith R. Walker (Austin, Texas)
Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation (Armonk, N.Y.)
