Essex Bank chief credit officer W. Thomas Townsend will retire June 30. Patricia M. Vogel, the bank’s current senior credit officer, will succeed Townsend. Townsend joined Essex in January 2011 and had previously worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

Higher education

Pamela DiSalvo Lepley has been named vice president for university relations for Virginia Commonwealth University, in which she serves as chief communications officer for the school and the VCU Medical Center. Lepley was previously the school’s executive director of the Division of University Relations. Lepley joined VCU in 2002. She received her bachelor’s from the Pennsylvania State University and a master’s from VCU.

Local government

Thad Williamson will serve as the central point of contact for the city’s new Office of Community Wealth Building. Williamson has been granted leave from his post at the University of Richmond, where he is associate professor of leadership studies and philosophy, politics, economics & law. Williamson will take the post June 1.

HealthSouth named David Cashwell as chief executive officer at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Virginia. Cashwell

was previously chief operating officer at Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee, Fla. He holds a master’s from VCU.

Marketing and advertising

Create Digital made the following hires:

Katlyn Williams joined the firm as a copywriter. She has a bachelor’s from VCU. Williams is a recent graduate of the VCU Brandcenter, where her team brought home first place in the Innovation Challenge.

Carrie Throckmorton was hired as an account executive. She previously worked for Target Corp. She earned a bachelor’s from The Ohio State University.

Christen Barber joined Create Digital as a strategist. She earned a bachelor’s from Virginia Tech.

Emily Jasper was hired as a content manager. She earned her bachelor’s from the College of William and Mary, and an MBA from Virginia Tech.

The King Agency added Kelly Marron as project manager. Marron was previously marketing coordinator for Forest City Enterprises. Marron graduated from Virginia Tech.

Jennifer Lawrence has transferred from the role of account supervisor to vice president, account director. Lawrence has worked for the company for four years.

Amanda VandenBroek, a six-year Planet Central employee, transferred from a senior account executive position to vice president, account supervisor.

John Hoar, an 8-year employee, was promoted from associate creative director to vice president, creative.

Lauren Chavis has also been with Planet Central for eight years, and was promoted from media supervisor to vice president, media.

Kim Riculan previously worked as accounting manager, and has been promoted to vice president, finance. Riculan joined Planet Central in 2007.

Randall Branding Agency announced the following three new hires:

Brent McCormick was added as graphic designer and mechanical artist. McCormick is a VCU alumnus.

Alyssa Patton was added as account executive. Patton is a recent graduate of VCU.

Mary Weidner was added as director of business development.

Networking Technologies and Support, Inc. made the following announcements:

Scott Holder joined the company as a systems administrator.

Justin Morris was hired as a support center analyst.

Chris Knowles joined NT&S as a field engineer.

Zachary Meador was hired as a logistics courier.
