Jack P. Fine & Associates has purchased 7,000 sf at 2405 Chamberlayne Ave. in Richmond. The property is home to an Advance Auto Parts store. It was sold by Chamberlayne Developers for $1.56 million, or $223 per sf. The freestanding retail building is located in the Laburnum/Rt. 360 retail submarket. Advance Auto Parts fully leases and occupies the property.

Space Mart Development Company has purchased 1.87 acres of land at Cox Road and I-64 and West Broad Street in Henrico. The land is located at Westerre Commons. It was purchased from Westerre Commons, LLC for $825,000. Space Mart will construct a conditioned mini storage facility on the land to complement the office users in the surrounding area.

Giant Book Sale LLC,  which specializes in providing overstock and remainder books from other bookstores, has closed its Richmond location. The store, located next to Staples on the west side of The Shops at Willow Lawn, was known for selling brand new books at extreme discounts; like a TJ Maxx, but for books.  The interior of the store is completely empty. The property was formerly owned by Tower Records, but they closed operations at the site last year. The site is currently for rent by Federal Realty Trust.

A new retail center will be opening in Ashland in the spring. Preleasing has begun on Wigwam Crossing. The multi-purpose retail center will be built on the site of the former Wigwam restaurant and dance hall. Electronic Precision Technology (EPT) has leased 46,283 sf at 801 Liberty Way in Chester. Dynex Capital, Inc. has leased 7,068 sf at 4991 Lake Brook Drive in Henrico.

McKenney Land Co. has purchased a 14,660 sf former Oldmosbile shop at at 6700 Janway Road in Henrico for $1.2 million. The Salvation Army has purchased 15,600 sf at 11000 Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield. Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. has leased 3,992 sf at 2108 W. Laburnum Avenue in Richmond. The Shops at White Oak Village -- at the intersection of Laburnum Avenue and Intestate 64 in eastern Henrico County -- announced 37 new tenants, bringing the grand total to 44. Nine are restaurants. The $158 million, 900,000 sf shopping center is scheduled to open on October 13. Notable additions include Bath & Body Works, LongHorn Steakhouse, and Cracker Barrel.

CSC provides IT services to commercial and government customers. Thomspon Davis Asset Management has purchased the Barrett House at 15 South 5th Street in Richmond. Richmond-based Thompson Davis Asset Management also has an office at 919 East Main Street. They provide investment strategies to individuals and businesses.

Belden is set to sell 31,625 sf at 14121 Justice Road in Richmond. The company was founded in 1902 and is currently based in St. Louis, Missouri. Belden manufactures high-speed electronic cables.

This particular site served as headquarters for Lumberg Automation, one of many companies under the Belden umbrella. Founded by Karl Lumberg in 1933, the company manufactures, markets and distributes connectors, cables, wiring and components for several different industry sectors.

The School for the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC) bought a two-building office complex at 2106 N. Hamilton St from North Hamilton Associates for $1.6 million, or approximately $57 per square foot. The school plans on operating from the new facility in early June.

Dean Foods bought the former Richfood Plant Manufacturing Facility (just off Interstate 64) for $4 million. The company has already occupied the 202,817-square-foot manufacturing facility.
