A new Republican governor in Virginia could mean new opportunities for businesses in the Commonwealth. Perhaps no enterprise has more to gain than independent liquor stores, should ABC be disbanded. And more flexible rules will finally let pubs advertise their happy hour specials on a placard or sign outside their establishments.

The rainy fall has ushered in an unseasonably high amount of firm-hopping.
Cantor Arkema will be dropping its business practice, sticking with just personal injury. The firm has been renamed Cantor Stoneburner Ford Grana Buckner. Two of the former lawyers are leaving for a firm up the street, and four others are heading to a larger business law firm. The new firm has a place-holder website up here. Read more
LeClair Ryan opens second Connecticut office

In July Richmond-based law firm LeClair Ryan will open its second office in Connecticut, reports the Hartford Business Journal.
“Law partner Brian J. Donnell will be at the helm,” the HBJ reports.
