John Adams, chairman of The Martin Agency, was chosen to have a plaque in his honor added to VCU Brandcenter’s “Wall of Inspiration” in Mike Hughes Hall. Adams currently serves as chairman of the Brandcenter’s board of directors and has been a supporter since its inception, the university said.

Martin Agency and Mondelez International are launching a new campaign for Chips Ahoy! for the brand’s 50th anniversary and to announce four new Chips Ahoy! ice cream flavors.

The agency also paired with artist Cesar Díaz Melendez and actress Anne Heche for a project for EARTH University, a non-profit school in Costa Rica that specializes in sustainable agriculture and natural resources. The 90-second video is animated entirely in sand.

The agency won an interactive film award at SXSW for An Idea Lives On for the JFK Presidential Library and Museum.

In addition, the Martin Agency did a new ad for PING.

The King Agency appointed William J. Boger to the role of account strategist. Prior to returning to TKA, Boger led the marketing and advertising efforts at Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists and PartnerMD. Boger attended Virginia Commonwealth University.

Five VCU Brandcenter alumni were named to Business Insider’s list of the Top 30 Most Creative People in Advertising under 30: Marika Wiggan, communications strategy, 2010, Argonaut; Ross Fletcher, art direction, 2012, BFG 9000; Rachel Mercer, creative technology, 2012, Deutsch LA; Lauren Perlow, art direction, 2010, Media Arts Lab; and Richard Langhorne, copywriting, 2011, Mother NY.

PadillaCRT hired Kevin Flore as vice president and group creative director. He was founder and executive creative director of The Flores Shop.

Big River hired Kai Fang as chief creative officer. Fang previously worked at Mullen, BBDO and Arnold Worldwide. Fang received an undergraduate degree in advertising from the Art Center College of Design. Fang has a master’s degree in film and electronic media from American University, and a master’s in spiritual psychology from the University of Santa Monica.

Burford Company has been charged with developing and implementing a media placement strategy for Sheltering Arms Rehabilitation Centers.

Madison+Main will launch an integrated marketing campaign for Sky Zone Richmond. The firm also conceived and produced a new TV spot for First Bank called “First in Business Banking.”

Lythos Studios completed two commercials for Jan-Pro of Charlottesville. They’ll also launch a new website in April for both the Richmond and Charlottesville Jan-Pro offices.

93 Octane was named the agency of record for Stony Point Surgery Center.

The firm also designed a logo for comparenow.com, a direct mail promotion for Cadence Theatre, and a new campaign for the Boys Home of Virginia in conjunction with students from VCU Brandcenter.
